The artist
Background
Born in Nouméa in 1973.
Graduated from the École des beaux-arts d’Avignon (DNSEP, 1997).
Lives and works in the Cévennes, France.
For nearly thirty years, Xavier Spatafora has developed an artistic practice he sees as “a way of inhabiting the world.”
Over the course of his practice, he has explored different forms of expression: music, poetry, performance, installation and screenwriting.
His visual work has gradually come to focus on fragments of posters collected from city streets. Through drawing, collage, printmaking, painting and three-dimensional work, he explores their layers, surfaces and possibilities for transformation.
